Bad Reputation started when Marty was asked by the Hyde Park Art Center to submit a piece of work for the "What's Your Art?" event at the Chicago Cultural Center.
At the time Marty was teaching Knotted Textiles, and she wanted to investigate traditional knots with non traditional materials and exploring the aesthetic of punk decadence.
Using mason twine, yarn, ribbon, plastic lacing, zip ties safety pins, spikes, and studs, Marty created a radiating fiber art fractal.
